How to Rock the Same Color Outfits for Family Photos | Fort Hood Texas Family Photographer

We’ve all seen the family photos with everyone dressed in matching white shirts and blue jeans right? Maybe we’ve been one of those families. While this can certainly bring a cohesive look to your pictures, it’s not always the most exciting or flattering look. Not to mention, white can look washed out in some pictures. Nobody wants that!

Color

When choosing the color scheme for your photo-shoot outfits, think coordinating, not matching! For the sake of this post, we’re going to focus on choosing one color and rocking it like a boss. Even after you’ve chosen the color, don’t get hung up on the outfit colors matching exactly. Stay in the hue of that color, but choose pieces in variations of that color. Some darker, some lighter, but all in the same hue of the color

Pattern

Including patterns can be a great way to add some visual interest to your pictures. Don’t go overboard, but do pick one or two patterns in the chosen color that enhance the look and create variation.

Texture

Adding texture is all about paying attention to the materials in your clothing pieces. A combination of different materials can really bring out the look of depth in your outfits. In the pictures below, this Mama chose a beautiful chambray dress, which gives the look and visual interest of denim, and staying in the same color.

Choosing outfits doesn’t have to be hard, especially if you decide to stay in the same color hue! Just keep these tips in mind and you’ll be rocking your look for family photos!
